Have Passion. Will Travel.

While I don’t Live In a Van… Down By The River…

My approach to motivational speaking is marked by Passion, developed with Creativity and peppered with Humor.  If you are looking for something fun and exciting, I may be the right person for the job.  For 30 years I made people believe that it was fun to sell paper.  Once you define the need and share what you want to accomplish, I will put together a plan to help you achieve your goals.

Previous Sales Training & Motivational Speaking

(My Mentor was Matt Foley)

  • Conducted training at the Mill in Flagstaff, AZ for groups of customers visiting our production and converting facilities.
  • Conducted training for over 400 Sysco Marketing Associates, District Managers and above and all of the internal staff at all three Sysco’s in Northern California.
  • Also conducted training for new Marketing Associates on an on-going basis.
  • Conducted training for Bunzl, Veritiv, Randik Paper, Modesto Janitorial, Focus Packaging and Ernest Paper Company
  • Conducted training for Market Smart Brokerage and all of their broker reps.
  • Selected to represent SCA at a National Sales Meeting for the New Zealand/Australian sales group.  Primary focus was Xpressnap.  After that presentation Xpressnap sales took off and they eventually had to invest in a converting machine dedicated to the production of Xpressnap napkins.
  • Conducted in house training for new and existing sales reps in all of my Paper Companies, WT, SCA and Essity.
  • Successfully converted all three Sysco’s in Northern California… converted over $12 million in paper sales from GP to SCA and did all three conversions simultaneously.
  • Presenter and speaker at many WT, SCA and Essity National Sales Meetings on a variety of topics.  Was specifically asked to be “Kaptain Knapkin” in full costume to motivate the sales people.
  • I had created two characters while selling paper.  One was Kaptain Knapkin and the other was Professor Peakserve.  Both of these became part of my persona.  Until I actually retired, I was referred to many times by colleagues, distributor and broker reps affectionately as The Kaptain or Kaptain Knapkin.  I wore the designation proudly.
  • Some of my most effective training included these characters along with some other creative ideas.  Conducted the World Series of Paper,  The Paper Olympics,  Hans and Franz (We are going to Pump…You Up),  Dr. Bob which I had a lot of fun with especially when pulling on the rubber glove.  Wastebusters… Who ya gonna call?? and many more.  The entire goal was to make paper selling fun.  Creativity, Passion and Humor are the three primary elements in all that I do.
